Numbers indicate steady growth for women in engineering

At Cornell there has been a recent increase in the number of women enrolling in the University’s engineering article. In just five years, the percentage of undergraduate women in the college has risen from 19 percent to more than 25 percent. Engineering schools in the United States average 20 percent women undergraduates.

At the Engineering Faculty at Rome University La Sapienza 27% of first year incoming students are women.

China unveils plans to boost scientific data sharing

In order to achieve its goal, China will establish 40 scientific data centres by 2010, covering 300 databases relating to the environment, agriculture, human health, pure science, engineering and regional scientific and technology information. The WorldWideScience.org portal was jointly developed by the British Library and US Department of Energy (DOE), along with science and technology organisations in Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, Brazil, Canada and Japan. WorldWideScience.org is a global science gateway—accelerating scientific discovery and progress through a multilateral partnership to enable federated searching of national and international scientific databases.
